Greatest Hits: Golden Hour with a Familiar Family
(Part of my “Greatest Hits” series, celebrating families I’ve photographed over the years.)
This family has been in front of my camera since 2011, which is wild to think about. From little kids to grown adults, I’ve had the joy of photographing them through so many seasons. Over the years, they’ve made a tradition of re-creating a few favorite poses from past sessions, and I couldn’t resist including one above for old times’ sake. Visit here, here, and here for more of their family photos, as well as their latest senior session, here.
This session took place at their beautiful new home, just as the light turned golden and the whole place seemed to glow. Their yard was the perfect backdrop with tall plumed grasses, a warm sunset, and a lot of laughter.
There’s something really special about photographing a family that’s so comfortable with each other. They love to laugh, and it shows. It’s hard to believe I’ve been documenting this family’s story for over a decade, but every time I photograph them, it feels just as joyful and easy as the first.
Looking back through all these sessions has been such a gift. Photographing families year after year and watching them grow, change, and laugh together is one of the best parts of what I do. These are the moments that remind me how fast time moves, and how important it is to pause and remember.
