Sweet Baby Boy

Saturday, May 5, 2012

Ah the life of a newborn, right?  This is my new grand nephew, just a few days shy of three weeks old. I always get a slightly shocked expression from people when I tell them that 3 weeks old is kinda old for newborn shoots. Typically, it's easier to pose them when they are days old. But no matter here, this sweet fellow was a pro.

Details and candids. With newborns especially, I like to capture both. These sweet features one forgets when being so blurry eyed from lack of sleep. When in the newborn stage you might think this is going to last forever. But that's only because you are awake for most of it. Speaking of awake, our little guy gave us plenty of darling expressions. Such a bright little guy taking in the world.

Congrats you two on your beautiful little boy!!!

A Grand Baby

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

This lovely lady is my very sweet grand niece.  About a month or so ago, we all took a trip a state away to see her at 5 weeks old.  I've recently seen pictures of her and it looks like she already has grown out of the newborn stage.

I decided to show all of these photos in black and white.  Because there were so many quiet and sweet moments, I thought black and white would reflect them best.  Reminds me of college days when I worked with black and white film.  Kinda miss that.

The sleepy baby was lulled into REM by my husband - the baby whisperer.  Because our first baby never wanted to sleep, my husband learned this crazy technique from a video called "Happiest Baby on the Block."  Now, every chance we get, we give this video to new parents.  And we get the same response from them all.  "Oh we didn't need the video, we had a sleepy baby." They didn't even need to open and watch the DVD - it's that good.

The Nature of a Newborn

Friday, May 21, 2010

This is my first photoshoot of a newborn.  Let me just tell you this little guy is very smart.  At less than two weeks old, he knew exactly who his mommy was and fell into her arms so contently that we decided to keep him there for these pictures.  I love the one where he's looking at the camera, as if to say, "You are not the mommy."  He had so many great faces for me, what a sweetie.
