A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to be a photographer for Downers Grove Christian School's 5k fund raiser called On Your Marks. The event was in loving memory of Tina Marks, a former student of the school, who died from complications from pancreatitis at age 22. I'm happy to report that the fundraiser was a success and it will serve to assist school families with financial hardships.

I had never been to a race before so I didn’t know what to expect. Not being athletic, my philosophy about races has been, “Why run if no one is chasing you?” But I have to admit that I was happily surprised about so many things. One being the woman above, Tina Puccillo, beautifully singing the National Anthem. She was amazing! Both Southpaw from the Chicago White Sox and Tommy Hawk from the Chicago Blackhawks made their appearances, mingling with the crowd. The best part, for me, was capturing photos of people finishing the race like the one below with Tina Marks’ brother, Steven, and his emotional finish.

One more note. For those of you who were in the race and would like to order pictures from the event, they will be available until October 16. Thanks!
